Story of Kabzaa

Kabzaa is a 2023 Indian Kannada-language action thriller film directed by R. Chandru and produced by K. Manju. The film stars Upendra and Shriya Saran in the lead roles, along with Kiccha Sudeepa, Murali Sharma, and Napolean in supporting roles. The film’s story revolves around a freedom fighter’s son who gets trapped in the mafia world.

The film’s story begins in 1942, during the British rule in India. A freedom fighter named Amareshwara (Murali Sharma) is brutally killed by the British. His wife Tulasi Devi (Sudha) and two sons, Arkeshwara (Upendra) and Sankeshwara (Suneel Puranik), are left to fend for themselves.

In 1971, Arkeshwara becomes an air force pilot, while Sankeshwara sacrifices his dream of joining the air force to support his brother. Arkeshwara returns to Amarapura for a short vacation, where he meets Madhumati (Shriya Saran), the daughter of the head and maharaja of Amarapura Veer Bahadur (Napolean). They fall in love and plan to get married.

However, their plans are interrupted by a gang war between three gangsters: Khaleed (M. Kamaraj), Bagheera (Nawab Shah) and Malik (John Kokken). When CM Ghanshyam Pandey (Lakki Lakshman) learns about Veer Bahadur’s plan to nominate himself as a candidate for the CM, he hires Khaleed to create chaos in Amarapura.

Khaleed kills Sartaaj (Taaha Shah), a local gangster, to create a power vacuum. He then kidnaps Madhumati and forces Arkeshwara to join his gang. Arkeshwara eventually agrees, but he secretly plans to take down Khaleed.

Arkeshwara kills a police officer involved in the gang war, which angers Bhargav Bakshi (Kiccha Sudeepa), the police commissioner. Bhargav Bakshi arrests Arkeshwara and tortures him to reveal the names of his accomplices.

Arkeshwara eventually escapes from prison and confronts Khaleed. He kills Khaleed and his gang, and avenges his brother’s death. He also marries Madhumati and lives happily ever after.

Kabzaa is a fictional story, but it is set against the backdrop of the real-life gang wars that took place in Karnataka in the 1970s. The film has been praised for its action sequences, performances, and music. It is one of the most successful Kannada films of all time.

The Times of India gave the film a rating of 3 out of 5 stars and said, “Kabzaa is a masala film that delivers what it promises. It is full of action, drama, and romance. The performances are good, especially Upendra and Kiccha Sudeepa. The action sequences are well-choreographed and the music is catchy. However, the film is a bit long and could have been trimmed down a bit.”

The Hindu gave the film a rating of 2 out of 5 stars and said, “Kabzaa is a disappointing film. It is a rehash of many other gangster films that have come before it. The performances are good, but the film is too long and drags in many places. The action sequences are also not very exciting. Overall, Kabzaa is a film that you can skip.”

Ultimately, whether or not you enjoy Kabzaa will depend on your personal preferences. If you are a fan of masala films, then you will probably enjoy the film. However, if you are looking for something more original, then you may be disappointed.
